The Hussam Aliwat Quartet is a project of the oud player Hussam Aliwat, created in June 2016 with his friends cellists Sary Khalife and Raphaël Jouan, soon joined by Nicolas Goussot at the drums. By assiciating two cellos, classical western instruments, with a oud, emblematic instrument of the Middle-East, supported by the drums, the Quartet offers a new type of sound. They only play original compositions, beetween written music and improvisation, oriental and groove, jazz and rock, inviting the audience in a journey from dreaming to dancing, East to West.
In April 2017, the Hussam Aliwat Quartet gives his first sold out concert in the famous parisian club Sunset Sunside. Invited back in November, they also performed in several festivals like Jazz Contreband in the season 2018/2019. In 2018, the Quartet recorded his first album, "Born Now", out in October 2019 with the label Gaya Music Production.
